GIRL SCOUT PATCH DAY - NOVEMBER 2009
photos provided by Sherri Leu

Butterfly Circuits: These are simple little electro-mechanical insects that respond to movement, wind, and vibrations by blinking their LED eyes.

Brilliant Bracelets: Hosted by volunteers from IIE, this session exposed the girls to process improvement and efficiency strategies.

Lego® Shopping Mall: Girls were introduced to the basic concepts behind the process of designing construction projects.

Girl Scouts completing worksheets to go along with their experiments.

This year, we also hosted a college admissions panel to start exposing parents to the joys and challenges of choosing the right school.

Silly Putty: Girl Scouts were able to combine household ingredients (Borax, water, glue, and food coloring) to turn molecules into polymers!

Solar Cars: In this experiment, Girl Scouts built their own solar powered car and were able to test it with a flashlight.

Solar Cars: The girls were introduced to alternate forms of energy and learned the benefits of renewable energy over non-renewable sources.
