SWE-MN Fund Development Committee is having a Holiday Online Auction to raise money to buy experiment supplies to do science/math experiences with girls. If you are willing to donate anything, please email Sara Beck fd@swe-mn.org and let her know what you plan on donating. All non-food donations need to be completed by December 1st. Food donations will need to be completed by the Holiday Party (approx. Dec 12th).
We NEED Committee Members!
Do you like to organize events, decorate for events, or ask for donations? If so, we could really use your talents in the fund development committee.
Time commitment:
-1 hr monthly teleconference calls over the lunch hour
- An initial face to face meeting at 5:30 PM on Oct 7th (not required)
- Email correspondence throughout the week
- Fund development events (these haven’t been set yet)

SWE-MN Girl Scout Patch Day - November 14th, 2009 - We may not be selling cookies, but we are working with Girl Scouts! Please join us as a volunteer for SWE-MN's annual Girl Scout Patch Day. We are in need of volunteers as experiment leads, group leaders, floaters, and more. Please see the calendar for more details. Training will be held on Monday, October 26th. IEEE Education Talk at The Bakken Museum - November 15th, 2009 - "Inquiring Minds - Using materials to engage learners", 5:30pm - 7:30pm. RSVP and questions to tc-education@ieee.org. What is the difference between "hands on" and inquiry science education? Learn about the Best Practices for Science Education by being a student again in this fun and interactive program presented by The Bakken Museum Educational Staff. Based on training for science teachers, learn about research based methods of engaging students' interest in science. This program won the 2008 Tekne Award for Innovation Collaboration with the Minneapolis Public Schools.

Nominating Chair Opening
SWE-MN is looking for individuals to serve on our nominating committee. The committee
consists of at least three people and serves to help fill our leadership pipeline by identifying candidates for SWE-MN positions. This year, one of our areas of focus is on improving the size and diversity of our leadership pipeline, thus this position is being given a renewed sense of focus. A person interested in this position would be able to forge their own way, identify new processes, and execute a year-long leadership development project with the support of the executive council. If you are interested, also please also plan to attend our September executive council meeting on September 16th at 6pm at Boston Scientific CRM in Arden Hills.

students entering the workforce? Are you looking for a way to become more involved in SWEMN? We are looking for someone to help mentor St Cloud State University SWE members as their counselor.
